Chisos Mt. Trails - The word Chisos (CHEE-sos) usually is interpered as meaning "ghost" or "phantom".  However the Apache word chishe means "people of the forest".  Rising out ot the center of Big Bend national Park, the Chisos Mountains cover about forty square miles of forested slopes, gorges and rocky spires.  Many of the cnayons and ridges can be visited by trails which begin in the Basin, at Panther Pass, ot in the canyons.
