Lake Murray State Park - Ardmore, OK
Lake Murray Resort Park is Oklahoma's first & largest state park. It is named after one of Oklahoma's early governors, William H. "Alfalfa Bill" Murray. The park is home to Tucker Tower, a nature center & museum. Land for Lake Murray was acquired in 1933 with completion of Murray Dam in 1937 by the Civilian Conservation Corp & Work Projects Administration labor. In 1949, Oklahoma's first state lodge was built at Lake Murray State Park. Today with 52 rooms and deluxe suites the lodge offers a country inn atmosphere. Eighty one cottages are within walking distance of the lodge. Lake Murray Bed & Berth Floating Villas offer the unique opportunity to dock your boat next to your bedroom & be rocked to sleep on the gentle waves.
Lake Murray Resort Park has 12,496 lush, wooded acres. The lake itself is 5,728 surface acres with 150 miles of state owned shoreline. The park has 506 RV & tent sites with 3 group sites each with a community center & cooking facility. The park also offers: indoor game room, Nature and Hiking Trails, ATV campground & riding area, swimming pool & beach, tennis courts, boating, water skiing, fishing, stable & equestrian trail, bicycle rentals, miniature golf, marina (watercraft rentals), grocery, airstrip, radio control flying field, & scuba diving.
